Long Turquoise Dragon Necklace:
Long and lush, this magnificent necklace will bring drama to anything you put on. An intricately detailed dragon pendant, hand-carved from chalk turquoise, elegantly hangs down from a long strand of vivid yellow agate nuggets, giving this unique necklace a definite focal point. Each side of the necklace features five original components, adding a wonderful variety of shapes, colors and textures including carved cinnabar, carved turquoise, yellow turquoise, carved bone and carved wood.
This stunning necklace is influenced by the styles and culture of China where the dragon has been an important symbol since ancient times. Chinese people often consider themselves "descendants of the dragon." Unlike the mean, ugly dragons of the West, Eastern dragons are beautiful, friendly and wise. They are loved and worshipped with shrines and temples built in their honor. They bring rain to the Earth and are specifically worshipped as the divine ruler of rain, lakes, rivers and seas. Dragon symbols can be seen all over China, depicted in stone pillars, embroidered on silk tapestries, in pictures, carvings, and writings.
In the original necklace I use a toggle style clasp. I think a lobster or s-hook clasp is easier to use, so just let me know what you would prefer when you place your order.
