A timeless classic, this beautiful and rich collar-style necklace will grace any wearer’s neck. This versatile piece is elegant enough to wear with a ballroom gown, but casual enough to wear with jeans and a t-shirt. It is strong enough to wear to battle and graceful enough to adorn a princess. It is neither too feminine nor too masculine, but acquires a balance of strength and eloquence.
Using only silver and faux amber, I managed to keep this necklace simple, yet bold. The large size of the beads and the deep amber hues make this a striking collar. The simulated amber beads are actually some sort of acrylic that has a beauty of its own. Amber has been around for ages, being one of the first gemlike materials used for jewelry and adornment. Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans all popularized amber and thought it to be a substance of mystery, a gift from the gods. The Greek philosopher, Thales discovered amber’s ability to attract small pieces of dust when rubbed with wool, making it even more intriguing. Although not true amber, I named this piece Electricity after the Greek word for amber, electron.I designed this piece to be a collar, laying close to the neck, but it can be extended to hang lower.
