Just looking at this piece of soulful statement jewelry makes me happy! I love the bright yellows and all of the exotic and ethnic components. It's so tribal and so African and just wonderful. You just want to touch it and look at it! (Or at least I do haha) I named it Kianga which means sunshine in Swahili :) Although none of the three pendants are actually African, this piece has a definite African inspiration and soul. The yellow glass beads are African trade beads from a long time ago and show their wear and use. And all of the brass beads are from Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire, and the batik bone from Kenya, Africa. The turquoise is from China, the copper fetish and spiral swirl are handcrafted by the Karen Hill Tribe in Thailand and the main pendant is a replica of a Song dynasty coin from China. The amber color beads are glass beads from Indonesia. So this is really a world-inspired mixed-media piece of art to wear! Check out my Yellow Mixed Media Bracelet and Yellow & Silver Bracelet which both go great with this inspired artisan necklace. Check out my Orange Kianga too.
The exact pendants in this piece will vary, but will have the same overall look.
