Description

Pacific Ring of Fire

Soulful and earthy, this unusual neckpiece is an exotic mix of beautiful South Pacific coral, antique African brass, and Thailand Hill Tribes’ silver. The two layers are in perfect harmony with the sterling silver geometric balls balancing the unpredictable organic coral. This spectacular artisan necklace is a wonderful balance of primitive and modern styles.
The pieces of coral are actual segments of bamboo coral from the South Pacific. Bamboo coral is naturally beige in color with a black underlayer which often shows through detailing the texture of their natural formations. Although dyed a lush red, these beads still maintain their natural appearance and texture. These coral segments will vary greatly from necklace to necklace as they are all natural and unique.
Handmade by people living in Cameroon, Africa, the brass rounded cube beads are individually made, inexact and soulful.
The distinct silver beads are made completely by the hand of incredibly skilled silversmiths from the Karen Hill Tribes in the mountains of northern Thailand. The silver is melted down with torches, poured into molds, and then shaped by a long process of tapping. The beads are hammered and etched, or sculpted into shapes, often emulating natural objects. These particular beads are also antiqued, enhancing their beauty and character. The distinctive styling has an earthy, handmade, artistic look and being completely handmade, no two pieces are the same.
Although not considered one-of-a-kind, the necklace you purchase will indeed be unique and is an original piece of handcrafted artisan jewelry. Coral being natural and the beads handmade, no two necklaces will be alike. The style will be the same, but the materials will vary. The shorter strand of the necklace is 15", adjustable to 20" and it closes with an antique brass lobster clasp.
The Ring of Fire is a zone around the perimeter of the Pacific Ocean containing about two-thirds of the world’s active volcanoes. The name seemed fitting given the red ring of coral in the necklace and its Pacific origin. Be sure to check out the Designer Chunky Red Coral Bracelet that makes a great accompaniment to this fabulous piece.
