The unusual mixture of metals and resin give this neckpiece a contemporary look and feel. The symmetry of the design and the geometric forms and lines reflect that of modern architecture which defines the necklace to be metropolitan in style. The peridot color resin beads provide a burst of color that is accentuated by the shiny, reflective silver and copper. And the gold Bali-style beads along with the Indian filigree silver discs create a feeling of grandeur. This original piece of handcrafted artisan jewelry is truly an exotic one-of-a-kind necklace that will enhance any style of dress.

The resin beads are handmade out of tree resin by a cottage industry in Java, Indonesia. The resin is collected from trees, mixed with brilliant colors, and then poured into containers where it hardens. It can then be hand cut into various shapes and sanded smooth. The beads are very lightweight and may vary slightly in shape and color. Jakarta is the capital of Indonesia and a growing metropolitan area, hence the necklace title.

India is known for its skilled silversmiths and these large detailed filigree beads are a perfect example of their unique styling. These beads are intricately designed and handcrafted from sterling silver. They are each separated by pure African copper beads.

The gold beads are actually gold-plated sterling silver, or vermeil, and are Bali in style. There are also sterling silver Bali-style beads. Both of these beads may actually be from Bali, or they could be made elsewhere using the Bali-style. The shiny silver and copper beads are both plated terra cotta beads from Greece, as are the spacers.

Pure brass rings finish the ends of this designer  necklace and it closes with a large brass lobster clasp. Silver sterling cable chain is added to make the necklace adjustable.
